The spaceship was flying erratically, something was wrong… It is unknown what caused the situation. Damage to the control panel led to the spacecraft losing its way and careening into the sea and breaking into a number of pieces. Due to the craft’s heavy reliance on rocket fuel, it was impossible to recover the vessel. Once the liquid oxygen had boiled off, the crew would be unable to stay alive. Captured on the Russian satellite, it was determined the debris included fragments of the the upper level hatch, the radio equipment and instruments, as well as the fuel tank and propellant tanks, likely all lost in the catastrophic incident. One theory regarding the damage to the upper level hatch was the cause of the leak. Russian scientists had never experienced that problem before with the more advanced U.S.
